Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 6 June 1965. Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9795 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #9795 is an EF-15A constructed in March of 1951, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and retired in December of 1967 after just 16 years of revenue service. In this context, they're about to pass under the 24th Street Bridge with a mixed-cargo freight train on its way to the Eastbound Receiving Yards in Altoona. (#5 of 44) |
